“We think like a rodent and understand what a rodent likes. We’ve researched different flavours, different textures; wheat bait, gel bait, block bait, with different shapes to encourage gnawing. Different bait boxes to provide the ideal feeding environment. It’s all about out-thinking rodents, and our competitors.”

Good Bait Siting

While baiting in external burrows has been found to give the best rat control, it can present greater risks to other wildlife.

Wherever possible, therefore, secure baiting containers sited between burrows and nests and the main sources of food are preferable.

For the greatest success the bait should be presented as close to the burrow and as distant from alternative food sources as possible.

With rats, baiting containers should always be placed along well-travelled runs, which are easy to identify from characteristic signs of activity.

Sites that the rats consider safe should be chosen – alongside walls, in recesses and in undergrowth – to counter their neophobia.

The precise location of baiting points is far less important with mice, the key to control being a sufficient number in the general area of activity.
