With labour and other non-material inputs representing 75% or more of the cost of a typical bird-proofing job, anything that helps ensure a quality job in the least possible time is a real boon for installers as well as a key priority for clients.

Nets tend to be heavy and awkward to handle, especially at height. This puts a premium on lightness and easy-to-handle packaging with all net corners clearly marked and the longest sides identified. Correct planning of installations and speedy fitting of well-designed fixings with the right tools further makes installation as smooth and rapid as possible.

Although bird spikes are by far the easiest proofing system, a whole host of things can substantially improve installation ease and speed. Closely-stacked spike strips that fit easily to hand, for instance, allow the greatest number to be carried and fixed at a time. Snap lines in the bases make it easy to break strips down to the right size. Glue guides enable rapid, mess-free adhesive application. And specially developed clips are invaluable in proofing gutters, windows and beams.

Electric systems need additional time for connection to the power systems and testing. This can best be balanced by easy-installation tracks supplied in rolls which are glued to the required surfaces as they are unwound, together with being both easy to cut to size and simple to join with quick-fit connectors.

As with nets, bird wire needs skill install. It is essential to have well-designed fittings and the right tools. Because the components are small, however, large areas can be proofed in a single visit with relatively little equipment to store or transport.
