“We think like a bird. We know how birds behave. Extensive research and experience means we can offer the correct solution. Avipoint™ Bird Spikes, Network Bird Nets, Fixings and Bird Wire. It’s all about keeping one step ahead of the birds, and our competitors”.

Longest Lifetime

Quality in the materials used and care in their installation is crucial if bird proofing is to give reliable service over the longest possible lifetime.

In this context, nets must not absorb water or stretch, need to be chemically inert and should preferably be UV-stabilised to resist degradation by sunlight. Since the lifetime of a net system invariably depends on the quality of its fastening, stainless steel fixings proven to resist rusting are important, as is the design of the fixings for strength as well as durability.

Material quality is equally important to the lifetime of spikes. Stainless steel spikes have the longest life expectancy and the use if high tensile strength stainless steel in particular means birds cannot easily push them out of the way or bend them out of shape. UV-protection of polycarbonate bases further offers a valuable safeguard against cracking or breaking through prolonged exposure to sunlight. And cleaning-off and priming surfaces to key-in adhesives and employing adhesives that provide a strong bond regardless of conditions are also important.

Electric systems based on stainless steel conductors also offer the greatest length of reliable service, especially where charging systems are correctly specified, sufficiently waterproof and installed away from the risk of damage or vandalism. Like spikes, fixing the conductor strips with a suitable adhesive is vital to the longest life expectancy.

Stainless steel is the preferred material for bird wire too, with correct product choice and installation critical to the longest lifetime. It is especially important to avoid over-tensioning wires.
