madagascan cockroach A Kentucky man has shoved 11 live cockroaches in his mouth in a new world record attempt.

35-year-old Travis Fessler held the Madagascar hissing cockroaches in his mouth for ten seconds smashing the previous record of nine.

Fessler said, "One of them tried to crawl down my throat. That made me gag quite badly. It was difficult not to be sick but I held it in and saw it through to the end."

Fessler is a professional sword swallower and fire eater and says he did not want to swallow any of the creatures because he is a vegetarian and keeps more than 1,000 of the bugs as pets.
